Labor Day 2011

I forgot to post Labor day pictures. We spent the long weekend at the new cabin that my dad and Julie got on Lake Washington by Litchfield.
Nick and Chalsey were there with Colton and Zoie as well.

Elise 4 month well baby

Elise had her 4 month well baby check up and shots.
Her are her measurements and percentiles:

Weight: 15 lbs 7 oz (81%)
Height: 25.25 inches (73%)
Head: 42.1 (97%)

Ethan

Ethan is 2 1/2 now and doing really great. He really enjoys going to daycare and playing with his friends there. She is going to have a Halloween party for the kids on Monday. Ethan is going to be a pirate this year and Elise is a pink and white cheetah.
Ethan is getting really good at his colors and he can count really good. He really likes the number 17 :)
He got to spend a few hours with Papa Judd and Julie in the tractor and combine during harvest season. He loved that! We also put both their foot and hand print on cement on the farm.

We also made a couple of trips to the apple orchard with Grandma Kathy and Great Grandma Shirlee. And we have had home made apple pies and apple crisp.

Lactose sensitivity

We were having some problems with Elise having alot of gassiness and only having a dirty diaper once a week. So we brought her into the doctor.
First they had me cut out all dairy and beef. He thought she was sensitive to a protein made by cows. And this can be passed through breast milk. This was not the case, she did not get any better.
So they did an xray, and she was sooo full of gas. The next step was to do an upper GI exam. This was done to rule out any twisting in her intestines. Her anatomy was completely normal.
So the next step was to put her on soy formula. This made a huge difference! She was having regular dirty diaper, less gas, and sleeping much better.
She is not intolerant of lactose, right now she is just not producing enough of the enzyme that breaks down the lactose. She should out grow this in a couple of months.

So now we have drops that we put in the breast milk, so at least she is still able to nurse. And have frozen milk at daycare.

So hopefully she contimues to do well, and will be done with everything in the next couple of months.

I forgot to post Elise's newborn pics!

I have been so bad at updating the blog, but here are some of her new born pictures.

New pics

Baptism

Elise was baptized on July 31st at Zumbro Lutheran Church. Nathan's brother Ryan and my step brother Nick were her sponsors. She did so well, she slept through the entire service even when the pastor poured the water on her head. Afterwards, everyone came back to our house for a little lunch.

2 month well baby

Elise is now 9 weeks old. I go back to work in a week. I cannot believe how fast time has went. I hate to think of someone else holding her and taking care of her all day. She is such a calm and good baby. She hardly ever makes a peep unless she is tired or hungry. She loves to smile all the time. It just melts your heart.

At Elise's 2 month check up, everything went very well. She is now 13 lbs (96%) and 23 inches (86%). She got her shots which went ok :( Now she does not go back until she is 4 months.

Ethan is now in his 3rd week in our new daycare. She does so many fun things with the kids. He is so tired at night, he goes to be so quickly. He does have some separation anxiety lately. Hopefully that will get better when we get back into a routine when I go back to work. He has gotten so much personality and his facial expressions are priceless. He is such a great little guy.

We went to my dad and Julie's new cabin for a few days and he was Papa Judd's little shadow. He loves following him around and asking him a million times what he was doing and watching him fix things. Ethan also got to go on the pontoon and jet ski.

Elise is already one moth old today!

She is doing really well. She is up to 11 lbs 5 oz. she is a good eater! She is still only sleeping 3 hours at a time, hopefully that starts extending soon. She likes to sleep alot during the day, so I really need to start waking her up more so that hopefully she will be more tired at night.

I can't believe how fast time has flown by! I am going to take the kids to work on Monday for a little visit.
Ethan just got back from spending a few days on the farm. He loved it, he got to ride the tractor and 6 wheeler, go swimming, and got to see the horses and barn cats.

I have not been blogging much, and this one is not that long, but at least it's something. Hopefully I will get back into the habit of blogging more.

Elise Sophia Dormody

Elise made her way into the world 2 days over due on June 16, 2011 at 8:09 pm.
She weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and was 21 1/2 inches.

Everything went very well. The total labor time was 3 hours, with only less than 5 minutes of pushing.
Grandma Fran brought Ethan up after things had quieted down. He was interested in her for a few minutes and then it was on to more interesting things. So many buttons to push and things to get into in the hospital room.

We had many visitors at the hospital and then pretty much every night for a week after we were home.

Elise has been gaining weight and is doing very well. She sleeps pretty much ALL day long. And then is up roughly every 2-2 1/2 hours to nurse. Sometimes we get lucky and she will sleep for 3 hours.

I am enjoying my time off with her. The weather is starting to get so nice out. We will have to start going on some walks!

40 weeks

This picture was actually taken the morning that Elise was born

Dr appt

At the OB appt last week things are looking great. I am 80% effaced and dilated to 2 cm. Nothing else to report. I have another appt on Wed.
He said things are looking promising and that I would probably go early like I did with Ethan. But who knows........ We are all set and ready, so anytime would be nice. Then I can get back to sleeping on my stomach and being comfortable :)

Nathan and I finally got around to putting together the swing/play set in the back yard. It only took 9 hours :) Next we just have to assemble the sand box and then put down some rock and we should be done.

MN Z00

We took Ethan to the MN zoo again this year. Thought it was a good idea before I get to close to my due date.
It was fun to see how excited he gets over seeing the animals this year. He really liked the aquariums, and the big "kitties".

2 year check up

Ethan went to see his pediatrician for his 2 year old well baby check up. Here are his stats:

Height 88 cm (57%)
Weight 11.8 kg (25%)
Head 50.6 cm (91%)

The dr thinks that Ethan needs to gain weight. He wants to see if he can can 6 lbs in the next month. He wants us to give him a lot of carbs and keep him on whole milk. But I think that they are just so used to seeing overweight kids now days that Ethan looks thin compared to other kids.
We are going to keep him on whole milk and make sure that he is eating really well, but we are not too concerned over this.

He did have to get one shot. Which went fine, not even a whimper or a single tear. He did great.

Ethan also got to spend the last few days at Papa Judd's and Grandma Julie's house. He had a great time riding 4 wheeler and a 6 wheeled gator. He also got to play with his cousin Colton and help do chores, he really likes the horses.

2nd Birthday Party!!

29 weeks and finally an update

I have not blogged in quite awhile, not sure where to begin.....
Ethan has been keeping us so busy. The kid is always on the go!! He has been so much fun though, his vocabulary is growing so fast everyday. He will say words out of the blue that I didn't even know he knew. He loves to sing, and even has his own "Happy" song and dance.

We had to start Ethan at a new daycare a few weeks ago. We loved the place we were at but she was full and would not have an opening for an infant this summer. So we found another lady that lives very close to us and we really like her. She is also $200 less a month, which is a bonus!

We just had his 2nd birthday party! We held it in our garage, since it is heated. It was a great day! Ethan had so much fun with all his grandma's and papa's all in one place. I think his favorite part was when everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. He got great presents which have all been opened and out of the box now.
Once it gets nice enough, we have a new wooden swing set and fort and a new sandbox that we have to put together for him.

As far as the pregnancy is going.......
I am at 29 weeks and doing really well. I just had my 28 week appointment last week and she said everything looks great and right on track. I have gained a total of 10 lbs now. I asked her what the chances of this baby girl coming early since Ethan was 3 1/2 weeks early and she said chances are pretty good. So we will have to see if I really have 11 weeks left or not.....

I just got over a terrible "bug" that lasted for almost 4 weeks. Pneumonia, ear infection, sinus infection etc. It was terrible, and of course I really couldn't take anything since I am pregnant.
But the 3rd antibiotic finally cleared things up. Nathan also got pretty sick as well. Thankfully we had grandparents that watched Ethan a few days while we were sick and miserable. Luckily, Ethan did not get sick.

Halfway!!

I am halfway through the pregnancy already! Time flies. Nathan was able to feel the baby move a few days ago. She is a busy little girl, moving a lot!
We have been looking at names, we have three that we like, but nothing that is "the one" yet.

Ethan is 22 months tomorrow. I can't even believe that he will soon be 2 years old. It boggles my mind how big he is getting. He is talking so much now, it's great to be able to understand what he wants and needs now. He has been seeing all the baby stuff in the nursery and says that it's for baby. The only thing that we need to get for the nursery yet is a crib.
I have a decorating idea and can't wait to get started.

That's it for now :o)

We're having a baby GIRL!!

We had the big ultrasound today! Everything looked wonderful and we are measuring right where we thought we were, which is June 14th. We also learned that it's a GIRL! I have not gained any weight yet, I have actually lost weight. Not quite sure how that's happening since I eat all the time ;o) But they are not worried about that right now. I don't think I gained any weight with Ethan till around 5 or 6 months either. Our next appointment is not for another 5 weeks.
